An exploration into how neighborhoods shape who we are and how we can shape them in return. Through walks, conversations and public viewings, we reflect on the past, observe the present and imagine a more beautiful, healthier and human-centered urban life for tomorrow.
We start at 15:00 at Urban Spaces Sfintii Voievozi, OTOTO Station with a talk with Ana Rubeli and Andreea Boldojar.
Starting from Ana Rubeli’s book „Mahalale de Patrimoniu”, we explore how neighborhoods are made—through architecture, commercial life and the people who inhabit them.
After the talk, at 16:00, we start the Guided Tour – the urban exploration from Urban Spaces towards Maria Rosetti, linking Sfinții Voievozi neighborhood to Popa Chițu neighborhood, their stories, their mysteries and their famous residents. As we move through the city, we reflect on the power of micro-neighborhoods to offer alternatives to dense, impersonal urban zones—places where design, memory, and community shape a better quality of life. The tour will trace both visible heritage and hidden histories.
17:15 – Hotăranu Pharmacy, Maria Rosetti corner with Vasile Lascăr
We continue with a short visit inside the beautiful Hotăranu Pharmacy, a remarkable early 20th-century building that served the community for decades. Designed by architect Statie Ciortan, it stands as a testament to the way local businesses anchored neighborhoods and brought elegance and utility together in daily life. A moment to reflect on the role of these civic spaces—past and future. We will see its frozen-in-time charm and we will find out about the future plans to transform this emblematic building into the Pharmacy Museum.
17:30 – Maria Rosetti 53
The guided tour will culminate with discovering the apartments building designed by famous architect Arghir Culina in 1918 for engineer Nicolae Pissiota and soon to be transformed into Urban Spaces Maria Rosetti. Architect Iulia Stanciu will share the architectural vision and transformation process behind the project. Participants will explore a restored commercial space on the ground floor and a typical apartment on the first floor—getting a glimpse of life in the old city and how it can be reimagined for the future.
We end the tour with a glass of wine and a warm conversation with our neighbors from the nearby Anticariat Store, who will share stories and hidden histories of the house and the surrounding streets.
The participation at the guided tour is based on a recommended donation of 150 RON/ person, payable at the Aici A Stat cultural association, IBAN: RO65INGB0000999911589980, ING Bank. Kids below 12 years-old can participate for free accompanier by their parents.
